Charts IALA Region A Buoyage System is applied in Estonian waters.
Database of Estonian aids to navigation
On the Estonian charts:
·The WGS-84 system of coordinates is used
·Visual range of lighthouses and beacons is indicated under the following conditions: clear day, height of the observer´s eyes - 5 m
·All bearings of leading lines and light sectors are given from seaward
·International abbreviations are used
Estonian chart (EC) sheets are mostly printed in scales 1 : 250 000, 1 : 100 000, 1 : 50 000 and 1 : 25 000, but charts in larger scale have been produced also. For small craft it is most convenient to use the portfolios “Charts of Estonia”, which are available in three volumes and cover the whole coast of the country.
A number of Admiralty Charts (AC) for the area are also available, but these are of less detail compared to the Estonian charts.
Russian charts for Estonian waters are very accurate, but older editions are not in WGS – 84 datum.
